Today is Earth Day my friends! Run outside and hug the nearest tree! Take a deep breathe of the fresh air brought to you by sweet Mother Nature. You guys, appreciate the earth! It is the one home that we ALL share! No matter how different your neighbor, your dog, the grazing cows, the freaking grass on your lawn is to you….we ALL LIVE ON THIS EARTH! So that is what I ask of you today. Live! Breathe! Appreciate the fact that you woke up today with the ground beneath your feet and the opportunity to do great things! Plant a tree, research sustainability, attend your local farmers market, make a pact to go vegan one day a week, the opportunities are endless!
It is just so wonderful that we have an amazing planet that cultivates so much life and presents us with the environment we need in order to thrive and survive; don’t you think we should be doing EVERYTHING we can to take care of it?! I sure do! Which is why I decided to share this super easy and wonderfully delicious linen spray with you today. It also serves as an air freshener but that made my title entirely too long. So make it and start spraying! This bad boy is absolutely environmentally friendly and is also not harmful to humans. There is alot of research out right now showing that popular deodorizing sprays today (think Glade and Airwick) are actually toxic and horrible to breathe in! I don’t know about you, but that freaked me out! This spray keeps my home smelling fresh with my conscience clear! Try it out and then maybe switch it out for all your old, gross sprays! Yayyyy Earth Dayyyyyy!
Skip to the bottom if you just want to snag the recipe and dip out of my blog; because I have a review to give on a fabulous local mini chain in Charleston!
My husband and I went down to Charleston this past weekend and took my parents out to brunch for an early Mother’s Day celebration. We usually go to Triangle Char and Bar but I suggested we go somewhere different to make it special. I found 5 Loves Cafe online and decided to give it a shot. Their website is all about local, sustainable food with an emphasis on accommodating any diet whether you are gluten free, lactose intolerant, or you guessed it…vegan! I checked out their regular menu and found it to be labeled clearly what was vegan. Their brunch menu, however, did not have anything already vegan. I shot them an email because I didn’t want to cause a big “to do” when I went with my parents. Several hours after I emailed a girl named “Casey” emailed me back. She was very friendly and assured me they could whip something up when I arrived.
When we went on Sunday, we were greeted by a smiling hostess and a beautiful scene. 5 Loaves is a restaurant that clearly used to be a large home. It has been renovated to look crisp and clean with a beautiful Southern charm. They also add lots of local touches which lent the place a glowing, healthy, affect. It was lovely. We ordered a carafe of mimosas which came with fresh oranges. After we placed our order a manager came over to introduce herself to me. She said they had been expecting me and ensured me that my order would be loaded with vegan goodness (I told them to have fun with it). And boy did they deliver! I was so engrossed in my food that it wasn’t until my last bite that I looked around to see how the rest of my family was faring. Turned out, they were on my level too. We all LOVED our meals! We paid and left with bellies full of local, sustainable, delicious food….I highly recommend you stop by if you are ever in Charleston. They even have three locations! We will surely be back!
- 1 small glass spray bottle
- 5 tbs vodka
- 4 tbs white vinegar
- 10 drop vanilla essential oil <--or ANY scent of your choice...or combination of scents!
- If you have a funnel this makes things easier. Combine all liquids into spray bottle.
- Shake gently. Spray away!

I hardly use linen, but I’m so happy you created useful to celebrate Earth Day! These breakfast wraps are tasty, I love the crazy delicious garnish all over it. I need your Dad’s pecan maple syrup someday…
